The short version: I'm not in the business of collecting your data. I couldn't care less who you are. What little is captured exists to keep the site running and secure — not to profile you or sell anything.

Cookies

Cookies are only stored if you log in or sign up for a newsletter. That's how the web works — I didn't design it, I'm just using it. These cookies live in your browser and are never uploaded or shared anywhere. If you're just reading, no cookies are set.

Analytics & Traffic Data

This site collects anonymous traffic data to understand how content is being read — page views, general location, device type, that kind of thing. No personal information is attached to any of it.

• Ghost Analytics — built into the platform, cookie-free, anonymised. Your IP address is never stored.
• Cloudflare — your server requests pass through Cloudflare in real-time for DDoS protection and abuse detection. This is what keeps the site up and usable for everyone. Cloudflare places a strictly necessary security cookie (__cf_bm) on your device for bot detection. Without this, the site would be unprotected. See Cloudflare's Cookie Policy.
• Shlink (link shortener) — when you click a shortened link on this site, Shlink logs the click timestamp, approximate country, device type, browser, and referrer. Your IP is anonymised and not stored. This data is self-hosted and never shared.

Personal Information

Your personal information is only ever collected when you choose to give it.

• Newsletter — when you sign up, your name and email are collected and stored. Ghost uses Mailgun (by Sinch) to send newsletters. Mailgun processes your email address to deliver messages and never sells or shares it with unauthorised third parties. See Mailgun's Privacy Policy.
• Comments — when you leave a comment, your name and email are collected and used only for the comment thread.

Some links on this site are affiliate links — I earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. I only link to things I actually use or recommend.

When you click an affiliate link and visit a third-party site, that site's own privacy policy applies. Here's what the ones I currently use collect:

• Unraid — collects standard web data including IP address, browser, device, OS, and usage behaviour. Uses cookies including non-essential ones that require your consent on their end. Data may be shared with service providers. See Unraid's Privacy Policy.
• Lazada — collects identifying information (name, email, address) if you create an account, plus IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent. Uses cookies and web beacons for personalisation and tracking. Data is shared with third parties for transaction processing and delivery. See Lazada's Privacy Policy.

Your Rights

If you have a member account and want to update or delete your data, you can do that anytime from your account settings. For anything else, get in touch.
